Kiel, 9. May 2023. Today Dr. Ulf Kämpfer, Mayor of the City of Kiel, welcomed a delegation from Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University (KSAEU) including Prof. Dr. Viktoriia Hranovska, Vice-Rector of KSAEU, and Prof. Dr. Viktoriia Krikunova, Dean of the Faculty of Economics. It was also the first time that the whole project team met in person. The delegation expressed their gratitude for the ongoing German help and strongly supported the idea of a city partnership between Kherson and Kiel. Prof. Hranovska introduced to the City and Oblast of Kherson and presented Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University. She also informed Dr. Kämpfer about the difficult situation in the City of Kherson which still suffers from constant shelling by Russian troops.

Prof. Hranovska also explained the current state of KSAEU. The premises of KSAEU have been damaged, partly severly so, and the Russian army destroyed or stole most of what they found valuable. Laboratories cannot be used, technical equipment is missing or destroyed. Hence, even though the City of Kherson has been liberated, many challenges remain. They include the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff due to Russian shelling of the city and because part of Kherson oblast is still occupied by the Russians. Financial needs are also large. (Photos: KSAEU)
