As part of the ongoing academic cooperation between Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University and Kiel University, a guest lecture by Dr. sc. pol. Anna Titova, Interdisciplinary Center for Statistics at Kiel University, took place on April 8, 2025.

The lecture, titled “Let the Data Speak: Dos and Don’ts of Statistical Analysis”, sparked great interest among students, postgraduates, and faculty members. Dr. Titova spoke about the role of economic models in statistical analysis, explaining that a model is a simplified representation of reality that helps describe, explain, or predict certain phenomena based on available data. Participants learned about the requirements for data in econometric analysis, how to select the right statistical tools, and why it is important not only to analyze data but also to interpret the results correctly.
Particular attention was given to practical examples — the analysis of economic, social, and behavioral data using basic statistical methods. The lecturer demonstrated how to interpret linear regression estimation results and highlighted common mistakes that may occur during such analysis.
Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, especially regarding data quality, sample requirements, handling missing values, and the role of assumptions in building models.
The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere of academic dialogue and exchange of experience. This format contributes to the development of inter-university cooperation and the promotion of modern statistical thinking among young researchers.
