How the project started: Scholarships for Ukrainian scientists

In March 2022, we thought about how we – the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences of Kiel University – could support Ukrainian scientists who suffered from Russia’s full-scale invasion. We decided to join the great initiative of Science for Ukraine and use some Faculty funds to offer two scholarships for researchers in the fields of Economics and Business Administration. It took a while to get this going, but everyone at Kiel University was very supportive so finally we published the call in April.

We selected Prof. Tetiana Skibina from Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University and Dr. Yurii Taschcheiev from the National Academy of Science. We welcomed them in June in Kiel. Thanks to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (https://www.ifw-kiel.de/), they could stay in Haus Weltclub, the great guest house at the Kiel Fjord.
