On 1 September 2022, Kiel University (CAU) welcomed five scholarship holders from Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University (KSAEU). Their visit enabled them to continue their KSAEU studies from Kiel and experience academic life at CAU.

A joint Kherson-Kiel committee selected the students on academic merit, taking gender equality and diversity into account. The scholarships covered travel allowances, housing, living expenses and enrolment fees.
The students could continue their online studies at KSAEU while getting to know Germany and Kiel University. The visit combined continuity in their home-university studies with direct experience of the partner university.
Support for students in Ukraine
In September 2022, the project also selected recipients for 66 online scholarships, providing financial support of €200 per month to students continuing their online studies at KSAEU from Ukraine. Selection was based on demonstrated financial need, taking academic merit, gender equality and diversity into account.
The support was intended to compensate for other funding sources lost because of the war. The scholarships formed part of the Kherson-Kiel project, supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) through Ukraine Digital with funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). We thank the funders and colleagues at both universities for organising the programme and supporting its participants.
