On 5 October 2022, 70 laptops sent from Kiel University (CAU) arrived at Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University (KSAEU), which had temporarily relocated to Kropyvnytskyi. The delivery provided equipment for students, researchers and administrative staff.
Organising the delivery
Arranging transport from Germany to Ukraine during wartime was a new challenge for the project team. German logistics companies had either stopped their Ukrainian services or delivered only to Kyiv. After negotiations, the team worked with a Ukrainian transport firm.
The shipment reached Kropyvnytskyi at a lower cost than the earlier transport options. A German customs official also inspected the freight as part of the delivery process.
Equipment for continued teaching
The laptops were intended to equip rooms where students, researchers and administrative staff could study and work. The photographs below document the delivery, unpacking and use of the equipment.
The delivery formed part of the emergency Kherson-Kiel cooperation supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) through Ukraine Digital, with funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). We thank the funders, colleagues at both universities and the transport partners for their practical support.
