On 1 January 2023, Kiel University (CAU) and Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University (KSAEU) began the second phase of their cooperation. The phase aims to connect teaching at the two universities more closely through a planned Certificate in Quantitative Analysis for Business, Economics and Public Administration.
Combining subject knowledge and quantitative methods
The planned digital certificate brings together the partners’ complementary strengths. KSAEU’s Faculty of Economics contributes subject expertise in business administration, economics and public administration, while CAU’s Institute for Statistics and Econometrics contributes statistical and econometric methods and their applications.
The proposed requirements pair subject courses, such as State and Regional Management or State and Public Law, with statistical and econometric methods courses. Students would combine knowledge from both areas in additional seminars and submit and defend an applied seminar paper to earn the certificate.
Funding and scholarship support
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports this phase from January to December 2023 through Ukraine Digital: Ensuring academic success in times of crisis, with funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). CAU’s Institute for Statistics and Econometrics, Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences and International Center provide co-financing.
This support enables the project to offer 30 scholarships per semester for KSAEU students and two visiting scholarships to Kiel University. We thank DAAD, BMBF and the CAU units for their financial support, and colleagues at both universities for developing the joint teaching programme.
