On 16 April 2024, Kiel University (CAU) and Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University (KSAEU) launched a joint course introducing students to programming with R. The course brings students from the two universities together for theoretical instruction and practical project work. KSAEU students initially joined through Zoom and CAU’s learning platform, with in-person work in Kiel planned for June.
Learning statistical programming together

Led by Dr. Anna Titova, the course combines programming fundamentals with projects to be presented in a seminar. Working in German-Ukrainian groups gives participants opportunities to exchange ideas and practise communicating in English.
Supporting participation in Kiel
CAU provides travel grants to help KSAEU students participate in the final stage of the course in Kiel. This practical support connects the teaching partnership with an opportunity for students to work together in person.
The teaching cooperation is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) through Ukraine Digital. We thank the funders, Dr. Anna Titova and colleagues at both universities for their teaching, organisational work and support for students.
