On 6 March 2024, Dr. Anna Titova, Head of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Statistics at Kiel University (CAU), gave an online lecture for students and teaching staff of Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University (KSAEU). The session focused on the scientific method and practical approaches to research.

Structuring scientific research
The lecture covered research structure, data selection, preliminary analysis and the publication of results. It connected the stages of a research project with the practical decisions involved in collecting and analysing data.
Evaluating evidence
The lecture addressed the trustworthiness of information, data analysis and the interpretation of numerical results. A further discussion considered the validation of a scientific hypothesis.

The lecture formed part of the universities’ teaching cooperation. The 2024 cooperation is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) through Ukraine Digital, with funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). We thank Dr. Anna Titova, the funders and colleagues at both universities for supporting this academic exchange.
