Guest Lecture by Prof. Dr. Mario Hasler on Agricultural Statistics

As part of the ACTI-K² Summer School 2026, supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and jointly organised by Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University (KSAEU) and Kiel University (CAU), participants attended a lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Mario Hasler, Professor of Biostatistics at the Faculty of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences at CAU. The lecture was dedicated to the topic of Data Sciences in Agricultural Statistics and highlighted the role of statistical methods in agricultural research.

Statistics in Agricultural Research

During the lecture, participants explored how statistical data science supports the planning and evaluation of agricultural experiments. Prof. Dr. Mario Hasler explained the importance of designing experiments carefully in order to obtain reliable results and account for factors that may influence outcomes, such as environmental conditions, soil differences and other sources of variability.

From Experimental Design to Data Analysis

A central focus of the session was the role of experimental design in agricultural studies. Participants learned how researchers use statistical methods to improve the accuracy of experiments, reduce potential sources of error and evaluate data effectively. Practical examples demonstrated how statistical analysis can be applied to investigate questions related to crop production, cultivation practices and agricultural performance.

We sincerely thank Prof. Dr. Mario Hasler for his engaging and informative lecture. His presentation provided participants with valuable insights into the application of statistical methods in agricultural research and highlighted the importance of data-driven approaches in modern agriculture.
